Ah, rates...naturally, every client wants to know how much their project is going to cost.  Not just an estimate, but a final and firm proposal.  Well, good luck with that.

Web projects vary in complexity and scope so that no two are alike.  Developers who promise a flat fee are either working off of a limited number of cookie-cutter templates and applications, or padding their estimate to ensure that the amount covers their time and expenses.

What I CAN promise is that my rates are not only fair, but well below what you would pay elsewhere from a web development firm.  Why?  Because I already have a full-time job and the work I do here is on the side.  In other words, I'm not relying on your business to stay in business.  I do extra web work for 'fun money,' not to pay the bills and make a living.  So I don't 'pad my time' or overcharge my clients because I don't need to.

With that said, here is the inevitable rate chart for my services, many of which are negotiable.  (I am also a fan of the barter system: doing work in exchange for other goods and/or services.  Contact me if you are interested in such an arrangement.)

SERVICES RATES
Arrange Web Hosting $99/year through ReadyHosting.com
$50 setup fee (paid to hosting company)
$50 setup fee (paid to me for establishing the site)
Domain Name Registration $35/year (paid to VeriSign/Network Solutions)
$50 setup fee
Simple Web Pages
$50/hour (straight HTML, no dynamic pages or forms)
Dynamic Pages $75/hour (ASP pages, forms, interaction with a database, password protected sections, administration, etc.)
Database Work $100/hour (Access, SQL, FileMaker Pro)
E-commerce $125/hour (because it gets complicated very quickly to do it correctly and securely)
SSL Encryption $50 setup fee
$500-895/year (paid to issuing company Entrust or VeriSign)

For your project, I will give a detailed estimate on how much time it will take to complete with a breakdown of rates and hours for each major step, in a minimum and maximum range.  You can count on me to try aim complete the project closer to the minimum or middle range.

If you prefer a 'final' proposal with one firm price, I can do that as well but beware that you'll be at risk for paying more as a flat dollar amount will lean toward the maximum end of the scale to ensure that I don't end up doing a lot of extra work for free.

I'm reasonable and fair.  I love what I do.  But not so much that I'm willing to undervalue my time.  I think you can appreciate that, right?
